I’ve been hard up for posts. Nothing going on. No great pictures. Not feeling particularly creative. Just a bit booooooored. Good thing Heather tagged me the other week, and now I get to tell you 100 –yeah, ONE HUNDRED– things about MUAH. As Simon Cowell would say, “It’s a bit indulgent.”
1. There is gnat buzzing around my screen and it’s really ticking me off.
2. I get frustrated very easily.
3. I also don’t have a lot of patience.
4. I react really badly to mosquito bites. I swell crazy big and get all red and lumpy.
5. I react even worse to Wellbutrin. I itch itch itch and turn into the scary Elephant Lady –like my ear is so swollen it sticks straight out from my head, and I can only see out of one eye. My dear friend Julie wrote, composed, and sang a song about it when we were waiting in the Emergency Room at 2 am.
6. I lose things and I drive myself crazy every time I do it. I don’t know how many times a day I am frantically searching for my phone, my keys, my wallet, a pair of nail clippers, a nail file, Sam’s shoes, whatever.
7. Everything has it’s place. I just don’t always remember the place. Erik reminds me often how illogical that is.
8. I can never remember if it’s “case in point” or “point in case.”
9. I won an essay contest in 8th grade and got to be part of the Changing of the Guards ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in DC by laying a wreath on the grave.
10. I haven’t made a card in forever.
11. I spend way too much “free time” on the computer.
12. I am addicted to checking my email and seeing who has an updated blog.
13. I want to travel and go on cruises, but the thought of it also makes me anxious. I wouldn’t know what to do or where to go. I would have to go with someone much more confident in that area than I am.
14. I was one of the founders of the Mustang Guidance Association in 7th grade. I thought I was cool.
15. I used to want to wear my Mom’s clothes. She had shiny black spandex pants she wore to the gym, and I wanted to wear them to school with a t-shirt tie. And I remember waiting in anticipation for the day I would be grown enough to wear her ZAM sweater. My Mom assured me I wouldn’t want to wear it by the time I could fit into it, but I didn’t believe her.
16. I would make my own t-shirt ties out of Pearler Beads.
17. I miss dancing like crazy. I am so envious of my sister for having the motivation, the drive, and the knee to continue dancing.
18. I am actually envious of my amazing, talented, beautiful little sister for many more reasons than just that.
19. I have a ton of insecurities that I manifest through jealousy.
20. I sleep terribly. I hate my pillow, I get too hot, my back hurts, every little noise wakes me up, and I have nightmares.
21. I’ve changed pillows at least 4 times in the last 3 months.
22. If I get disturbed in my few moments of good sleep, I get sooooo mad. If it’s your fault, I will most certainly yell at you.
23. I hate that so often my first reaction is to yell. I do not not not want to be a yeller.
24. The thought of raising children terrifies me. I have so many uncertainties and doubts about doing it right that fill me with anxiety every single day.
25. I am not even one bit baby hungry.
26. Seriously!
27. I weigh 30 pounds more than when Erik and I first starting dating. Sickening, isn’t it?!
28. My lowest weight was 130 my freshman year at college. [Remember, that's good for being 5'9] I lost 15 pounds the first semester without even thinking about it. WHY is it not that easy NOW?!
29. I am probably the funniest person I know.
30. I told Erik he had to say that at my funeral. He said he wouldn’t lie, especially at my funeral.
31. Pictionary is one of my favorite games, but I hardly ever play it. I don’t even think I own it.
32. My favorite books are Jacob Have I Loved, To Kill a Mockingbird, Teacher Man, and A Thousand Splendid Suns. All of those books are about people being treated unfairly.
33. I am always comparing, and feeling like I am the one being treated unfairly. I raged at the fact that when we moved back to CT, my sister’s room was maybe 2 square feet bigger than mine. Caroline offered to switch, but I wanted the front room with the big window.
34. I am such an unbelievable brat.
35. I really am working on it!
36. I hate the feeling of grass touching my ankles.
37. I wish I could be creative without being an idea stealer, but that’s the best I can do.
38. I would love to be a good photographer.
39. If I could choose any one talent to have, it would be singing.
40. I love window shopping, especially for furniture.
41. I wish I had a friend here. The kind you can call up when you’re stinky and unshowered and say “Let’s go get a coke” and she would be just as stinky.
42. I wish I had 5 minute hair. I can’t even do a ponytail in 5 minutes. I just don’t have that kind of hair.
43. I am constantly re-reading everything I write. I love proofreading and editing anything. My dad taught me how to do that well.
44. I got a gym pass and I love it.
45. When I’m at the gym and Britney Spears “Crazy” comes on, it’s all I can do not to start singing along at the top of my lungs.
46. I do the elliptical to the beat of the music I’m listening to. Wheezer’s “Island in the Sun” is a good one.
47. Wheezer makes me think of when my BYU dorm roommate and Julie decided to be friends for a week and didn’t include me. It had something to do with my reaction to a cheese comment.
48. My roommate disappeared and Julie and I are now friends. She more than made it up to me by driving me around in her sister’s Jetta and introducing me to both the Wendy’s dollar menu AND Del Taco chicken soft tacos.
49. It’s 9:05 pm and I am about to fall asleep in my chair.
50. I hate making dinner for just the 3 of us. It’s seems like such a waste of time, and then I’m stuck cleaning it all up afterwards, too.
51. I love putting on a show for friends and family, though. Then I don’t mind cooking.
52. I really like baking. I make cookies or bread or some other treat at least twice a week.
53. I am starting to quilt. I have a few projects in mind, and it’s very exciting to me.
54. I’ve been taking Sam to Music Time at the library once a week. It’s been good for us.
55. One thing I really like about myself is that I am not afraid to try new foods, and I am not picky. The only 2 things I absolutely will not eat are olives and shitake mushrooms.
56. Picky eaters kind of annoy me. Fine if you’re a bratty kid, but seriously, if you’re an adult? Just suck it up. Don’t be a baby.
57. I won’t wear socks into the bathroom. The idea of pubies sticking to my feet grosses me out.
58. I love my handwriting.
59. Laundry is a chore I am usually more than happy to do. It gives me an excuse to sit down in front of the TV without feeling unproductive. But I am really bad about putting it all away.
60. Emptying the dishwasher is by far my least favorite chore.
61. I {heart} Target. No week is complete unless I’ve been at least once.
62. Summer is my favorite season for fruit. I will eat a nectarine a day, no problem. And berries, yummm. Pretty sure I ate a whole pound of strawberries yesterday.
63. I can’t stand wearing jeans. I’ve never once found a pair I love, and they are just so darn uncomfortable. If I am at home, I am in sweats. I don’t like jeans.
64. I am always trying to find the perfect mascara, shampoo, and lipstick. No success yet. I have found ones I like, but nothing I love.
65. I have crazy crazy conservations with myself in my head. All the time. I don’t so much talk to myself out loud, though. Sam is always listening, so it doesn’t count.
66. I am super wasteful. I throw things away way too easily. It’s gotten worse since I’ve been married, and I think it’s an inverse reaction to Erik’s pack ratting.
67. I love math. Algebra specifically. I was actually minoring in it, back when I was in school.
68. In my 3 years of college, I had 6 different majors. Dance education (I was going to open my own studio before I busted my knee again), Accounting (I wanted to impress my Dad), Zoology (thought I’d be a pediatrician), Elementary Education (still wanted to work with kids, but didn’t want to take Chem for the 3rd time), Undeclared (by this time I was meeting regularly with a counselor), and History Teaching.
69. Teenagers are much more appealing to me than little kids.
70. I have substituted every single grade several times. First and 7th grades were by far my least favorite.
71. It makes me sad that my children will never have a dog.
72. Family is very important to me. I want my children to have quality relationships with their relatives.
73. It makes me a little sad that since all my family is now out here, I have no reason to ever go back east. I love all the history there, and I hope I can still share that with my kids one day.
74. I really want a green thumb. I would love to have a garden with tomatoes and anything else fresh and yummy.
75. I am terrible at keeping a journal. Almost every entry says something like “It’s been way too long, and I can never fill it all in” with a vow to do better. I never do.
76. I wish there was a duck pond around here. I think that would be so fun to take Sam there.
77. I am constantly organizing, and re-organizing, and trying my hardest to establish some sense of order. Really all I am doing is moving our mess from one place to another. Enter Erik’s cue to call me illogical again.
78. I am so afraid of moths and lizards. I don’t care if they won’t hurt me. They terrify me.
79. I love scary movies, but don’t have anyone to watch them with.
80. I startle very easily.
81. Bad grammar kills me! Kills me, kills me, kills me! There is no worse way to be ignorant in my eyes. The worst is when people say ”I” to sound like they are smart, but they actually used it wrong, and should have said “me” instead. I am appalled at how many people do things like that. Ooooh, but so much worse is when people say “I’s.” Really?! I’s?! “That’s Mike and I’s house.” Seriously? How dumb are you?
82. If you have bad grammar, it’s ok. We can still be friends. Just don’t say something stupid like “I’s.”
83. I love sushi. I crave it often.
84. Erik bought me a label maker once. Best present EVER.
85. I have at least 8 craft projects that I’ve started but never finished.
86. I love the smell of rice cooking and the laundry drying.
87. I hate the smell of raw chicken.
88. If you are still reading this, we will be best friends forever. You and me. BFF.
89. I am not really that into music. I’ve never been on top of bands and singers and what not.
90. I am really bad at recognizing faces. Every time we moved somewhere new, I would find people in school that I thought for sure had to be twins. Not even close.
91. Although moving was always ridiculously hard, I wouldn’t go back and change it. I think those moves did a lot to make me who I am today.
92. I am very defensive about my family. Erik pointed that out to me, and it’s so true. His favorite story is one time he said something about “Don’t be a doubting Thomas” and I totally lost it and went off at him. Erik stared at me with his mouth wide open. I had never heard that phrase before. I thought he was making some jab at my brother. Oops.
93. One of my favorite things to do as a kid was dump out a brand new box of crayons and put them in color order.
94. I am a crier.
95. I usually hate talking on the phone. I can name maybe three people I don’t get anxiety about calling. I am just horribly awkward on the phone. I would soooo much rather talk face to face.
96. I Tivo Oprah, but only so I don’t miss her bra interventions and Favorite Things episode.
97. I watch way too much TV. The background noise is comforting, so it’s on a lot. My fav shows are Samantha Who, Lost, Top Chef, Project Runway, The Office, Medium, American Idol . . . etc.
98. I love that Erik will watch all of those shows with me, even though only some of them are also on his favorite list.
99. Sam’s naptime is the most precious time of the day. I get super worked up if he doesn’t sleep long enough.
100. It only took me about a week to finish this post.
Ha! Who knew there even were 100 things about me?! Tag, you’re it now!
