Duller than a Rain Delay on the Golf Channel

January 8th, 2008 Annelise Posted in blankets, boring, catching up 4 Comments »

I don’t necessarily have anything fun or new to post, but I figured it was time to move onto something a little less barfy.  We’ve actually had a few ok days and haven’t seen any large upchucks since I last posted.  Samuel’s still spitting up, gagging, and dry heaving, but that’s become the norm.  Just 2 more weeks till our appointment!

Chillaxin’ and Nappin’

Love those little feet!

Snow Lovin’

Despite his very first encounter, Sam really loves the snow now!

Poop Smithin’

Pleeeeease, Mom, just let me play with the camera!!

So there seriously is nothing new going on.  Boring.  Sam doesn’t have any new tricks and he hasn’t done anything that exciting.  Boring.  He does often surprise us with something else he has figured out how to climb on to (each getting progressively higher) and even though he hasn’t said any new words recently, he can make a whole lot of animal noises.  Sam has dog, kitty, cow, sheep, lion, elephant, and tiger all under his belt.  I pushed “meow” and “moo” in hopes of Sam perfecting the “M” sound that starts the word “MOM!!!!!” but all I got was “Wah-ow” and “Woooooo.”  {I guess I’ll have to keep being “Dwah” for a while longer.}

Sam is clever, though, and it’s fun to watch him learn and make connections.  Like to be at Target and hear Sam say “Wah-ow!” over and over as points to a toy cat.  Or to watch Sam moo at the horses when we’re out for a walk (clearly, we’re still working on “neigh!”)  Or to have Sam bring me a sheep from his little nativity as he explains to me intently, “Baa, baaa, baaaa.”  Or to introduce Sam to a hot dog for the first time {“Samuel, this is a hot dogHot dog.  Try the hot dog.  Mmmm, hot dog!”} only to have him poke it a couple times, then look at me with a puzzled expression, “Woof woof?”

Eating for Life

April 21st, 2007 Annelise Posted in all about me, boring 1 Comment »

I just want to take a minute to rave about my new “diet”!!! I finally got to the point where I was fed up with myself, and knew I had to do something about it, but I felt like I needed some extra help. After doing some extensive research, I decided to sign up on ediets.com. I answered a bunch of questions, put in a lot of information, and they made up a meal plan specifically for me. It’s based on Bill Phillip’s Body for Life:Eating for Life, and I LOVE IT!! I get 6 small meals a day, a total of 1200-1300 calories, and it’s all done for me. This is exactly what I needed to get started. It is all laid out for me, including recipes and shopping lists, and all I have to do is follow the directions. I can even go through and change meals if I don’t like them. There are also frozen food, fast food, and dining out options. But seriously, the recipes are soooo easy. And here is the clincher: I have already lost 3 pounds in just one week! (The goal was 2!!) And I even cheated a few times because I have been so miserable and sick.

I am just really happy with this decision, and I’m glad Erik is supporting me in it (it just took some convincing). I am realizing that food does not have to be my life. Food had become way too big of a deal for me, and that was a huge part of the problem. I feel like I am eating so much better, my meals are balanced, and I am re-learning how to be healthy again. EATING FOR LIFE, BABY!!!

Bored . . .

February 6th, 2007 Annelise Posted in all about me, boring, tags 2 Comments »

OK, so really there is no such thing as bored when you’re the mother of a 12 week old baby. But Samuel is enjoying one of his short naps, and I’m exhausted, but I know I don’t have time to take my own nap (I never do with the way he sleeps!) so I copied this survey from Emily, and thought I would treat myself to a little fun. I should be moving the laundry ahead or straightening my bedroom or cleaning the bathroom or even showering. But I’m not.
